National Football League trade rumors: Eagles interested in Bills RB McCoy

National Football League trade rumors: Eagles interested in Bills RB McCoy

The Eagles lost their starting running back, Jay Ajayi, for the season due to a torn ACL.

Plans can change, so a trade for Bell shouldn't be ruled out. And what if the Eagles pull off a similar move they made previous year by trading for a running back?

It's dot-connecting season in the NFL.

One key benefit of the 2019 cap space: The Eagles could tie incentive payments to Bell playing in various levels of postseason games, ensuring that Bell would receive much more than the peanuts-level (in relation to his franchise tender) playoff share if/when the Eagles qualify for postseason games that would put a healthy Bell's March 2019 open-market payday in jeopardy.

In La Canfora's report, he indicated that Pittsburgh was "hopeful" of getting a draft pick higher than the third round in exchange for Bell and of being able to ship him to the NFC, if anywhere. Ajayi criticized the Eagles' playcalling against Minnesota following Sunday's loss, upset over Philadelphia's 17 carries compared to 35 passing attempts. This year he's been banged up on a bad Bills team, rushing for just 170 yards in four games.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday evening that the Eagles restructured the contract of Pro-Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.

That information, though, could have been gleaned from a source with the Eagles interested in either maintaining leverage for eventual trade talks with the Steelers or possibly concerned about the morale of the running backs still active with the team.

Darren Sproles hasn't played since week one because of a hamstring injury.

When a team loses a star running back, you might expect them to try and find another. Players at that position now without a contract include Mike Gillislee, Orleans Darkwa, Terrance West and Christine Michael.

Imagine LeSean McCoy coming back to Philly.
