Chinese leader Xi Jinping is also expected to travel to North Korea.

Pompeo, who was briefing Wang following his visit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said, "The issues that you characterized we have a fundamental disagreement". Pompeo did not meet Kim on that trip.

Kim Jong-un and Mr Pompeo held talks about President Trump's plans and future relations with North Korea.

Responding to Wang's remarks, Pompeo said he wanted to come to Beijing to "have discussions".

"We hope the United States and China can meet each other halfway and conscientiously fulfill the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries", Yang said.

Pompeo replied that it was "important that we listen to each other, work through and find constructive solutions so we can find a good outcome for both our countries".

In Seoul, Pompeo told South Korean President Moon Jae-in that Kim had agreed to have another summit "as soon as possible", according to a statement from Moon's office.

Such an approach to security is not something new for North Korea.

Pompeo said they came close to finalising a date and venue for the next Kim-Trump meeting.

The kick tied the record for the longest game-winning field goal in National Football League history set by Tom Dempsey in 1970. Latimer has the longest passing play of the season for the G-Men when he hauled 37-yard yard pass against the Cowboys.

Earlier this year, the USA and North Korea began talks over Mr Kim's controversial nuclear weapons programme. The meeting was apparently productive, and they even discussed another summit between Kim and President Trump, Reuters reported.

"We believe this has been a direct attack on our mutual trust, and has cast a shadow on China-U.S. relations", Wang said. "After having a nice meeting we can enjoy a meal together", Kim told Pompeo as they walked down a hallway toward a guesthouse dining room.

Never before has the US officially acknowledged China as a relevant party, .an act believed to be a way to gain support from Beijing.

Valentina Matviyenko, chairwoman of Russia's Federation Council, revealed on Friday that Moscow and Pyongyang were working to arrange a visit for Kim, while Beijing was reportedly weighing options for a fourth meeting between Xi and Kim.

Pompeo has refused to discuss details of negotiations, including a United States position on North Korea's demand for a formal end to the Korean War and a proposal from Seoul for such a declaration to be accompanied by a shutdown of the North's main known nuclear facility.

A meeting of top United States and Chinese diplomats in Beijing to discuss North Korean nuclear disarmament has got off to a frosty start.

The North Korean leader also invited inspectors to visit the Punggye-ri nuclear test facility, which Pyongyang took apart in May, "to confirm that it has been irreversibly dismantled", the State Department said. According to the former official, the North Korean diplomats told him that denuclearization for them refers to a process by which the US also reduces its nuclear weapons, possibly worldwide.

Rising tensions have fueled concern in Beijing and Washington that the president's trade fight could, if left unchecked, foster a new Cold War between the two countries.

"I would assume there are negotiations going on over specifics - somewhere there are people meeting, " said Dean Cheng, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation in Washington.
