VENOM: Tom Hardy Gets Intense On The Red Carpet

VENOM: Tom Hardy Gets Intense On The Red Carpet

Led by Hardy as disgraced journalist Eddie Brock who fuses with an alien symbiote during his investigation into the shady Life Foundation, Venom now sits at a 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes - a figure that has continued to rise and fall as the aggregator accounts for more reviews. The Symbiote attached itself to Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker in the film, but once he figured out how to get rid of it, it looks like it went and attached itself to Eddie Brock.

One of Drake's space probes bring back a gaggle of symbiotes, which resemble a sentient British pudding crossed with Silly Putty and which need to absorb themselves into human hosts if they are to survive.

Tom Hardy has clarified his recent comments about the footage cut from Venom, telling IGN that everything he wants in the movie is in there, "and more".

Carnage is Venom's most famous adversary and the symbiotes have fought on the page numerous times, so it's not surprising that Sony are looking to sow the seeds of that conflict for future movies. There, Kasady once shared a cell with an imprisoned Eddie Brock after his defeat at the hands of the web-slinger, then the object of both Eddie and Venom's seething hatred. In making the story palatable to kids, he also sanitizes it of its angst, its elemental cry for salvation...in short, everything that makes Venom Venom. Evidently just outside of it, since it's been declared an orphan by Marvel Comics soothsayers, despite a connection to Spider-Man and a cameo by Marvel icon Stan Lee in a role credited as "dapper dog walker". It is the first time Oscar-nominated Williams has starred in a superhero movie. To add to that, Venom has star power with Tom Hardy attached as the lead, and the only competition is Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's A Star Is Born, something fanboys aren't probably lining up to see.

Darned if Hardy doesn't go for the gusto, though, and he's no stranger to playing demented twins, as he previously demonstrated in the killer-bros act that was Legend.

Liverpool's XI from their last match against Napoli, where are they now?
Napoli's top Serie A scorer Insigne came close twice early, with Alisson comfortably saving a Milik header just before the break. Liverpool opened their Champions League campaign with a 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield.

It's this simplistic take that takes away from the enjoyment of 'Venom.' Surprisingly, it is Venom who has the most character beats, but since the film is taken from Eddie Brock's point-of-view, we don't actually get to see and enjoy the shifts in Venom's character.

The scene that aired after the credits was a clip for the upcoming film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, though the mid-credits scene which aired earlier is what has many fans really talking. Clearly, this didn't happen, but I'd argue that Venom's creative team (Fleischer and writers Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel) still have a decent handle on what makes Venom tick. Though the ensemble around Hardy is mostly quite talented, they all appear to be acting in a different, much more boring superhero film. I don't want anyone to think in any way shape or form...that's not a studio party line, that's the genuine truth.

Venom opens in cinemas worldwide on 5 October, 2019. "We've landed this character, and now we get to decide what to do with him". Critics either loved Hardy's interesting duality with Venom, or they hated it. Even before Eddie is partially taken over by Venom, Hardy makes him basically into a weirdo.

One of the most iconic villains from Spider-Man comics gets his own movie as Sony Pictures' Venom hits theatres this Friday.
