Surface Pro 6 hands-on: Same looks, but a huge speed bump

Now, Microsoft is prepping up for a big event later today in NY where it will unveil new devices.

Both devices will reportedly come with Windows 10 in S-mode pre-installed. The Surface Laptop is receiving two important performance tweaks that should make it more attractive - a Core i5-8250U quad-core SoC will replace the Core m3-7Y30 that formerly dropped into the bottom-end SKU, while RAM will get a bump from 4GB to 8GB. The company may also bring the successor to the Surface Laptop that debuted in May previous year and was launched in India last month.

Meanwhile, Microsoft says the Surface Pro 6 is 67% faster than its predecessor but with the same battery life (up to 13.5 hours). According to the report, the newly refreshed lineup will miss a "complete overhaul".

That was my state of mind as I headed to Redmond last week to get an early, advance look at the new headphones.

Trump set to sell new Mexico-Canada trade agreement
The senior administration officials announced agreement on the USMCA an hour before the USA -imposed deadline for a deal. Canada also successfully pushed to keep a special dispute process, called Chapter 19, intact.

Microsoft originally launched the Surface RT and Surface in a black coloured variant, but eventually switched to silver. The odd part is that the Surface Book 2 and Surface Go devices both have USB-C ports and not offering them on the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop would be a unusual omission. Though neither upgrade is in the realm of the latest tech from either Intel of NVIDIA, they're both significant steps up from the original Surface Studio's 6th Gen Core i7 processor and GTX 980M graphics.

The report continues by noting that a new internal design should improve battery life, with Microsoft saying it should last you for nearly 14 hours. Other than moving to an 8 generation CPU, the rest of the Surface Pro 6 stays the same, including the lack of USB-C. Also, Microsoft is finally offering the Surface Studio with pure SSD storage.

It will support phones running Android 7.0 or Google's mobile operating system. The Surface Laptop 2 is 85 percent faster, according to Microsoft, with battery life clocking in at 14.5 hours. Users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Home for free, but not to Windows 10 Professional. Sadly, we can't that with Microsoft's "Surface Event", because there won't be a live stream. You can pre-book the Surface Pro 6 from Microsoft Stores in the US starting October 16. A price for the Surface Laptop 2 was not leaked alongside.
