What is a sexually violent predator?

Comedian Bill Cosby was declared a "sexually violent predator" under Pennsylvania law on Tuesday at the sentencing hearing for his sexual assault conviction.

Cosby, 81, has also been categorised as a sexually violent predator, meaning he must undergo counselling for life and be listed on the sex offender registry.

After much debate yesterday, both the defense and prosecution came to an agreement that Cosby would only face a maximum of ten years by merging all three felony counts into one for the sake of a swift sentencing.

The defense argues that he's old, frail and legally blind, and should be sent home on house arrest.

His lawyers had asked for house arrest, but Judge Steven O'Neill sentenced him to "total confinement", calling him a "sexually violent predator".

Cosby was found guilty in April of molesting Constand, who had been operations manager of the women's basketball team at Temple University, where Cosby had been a major supporter and donor.

Though Cosby's trial only addressed the incident with Constand, more than 60 women - five of whom testified at the trial - have come forward to say they had similar encounters with him.

Tuesday's sentencing was a reckoning accusers and prosecutors said was decades in the making.

The judge said that even considering Cosby's age and blindness, "he could quite possibly be a danger to the community".

Time's Up, the organization founded by prominent Hollywood women in the aftermath of the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault allegations, today heralded the most significant conviction of the #MeToo era.

Cosby arrived Monday and Tuesday with his spokespeople, Andrew Wyatt and Ebonee Benson.

Saudi Arabia rejects Trump request to hike oil output
The price rises have stemmed mainly from a decline in oil exports from OPEC member Iran due to sanctions introduced by Mr Trump. That suggests OPEC's power to influence the market will be tempered by US production for about another decade.

"To truly understand the impact that the sexual assault has had on my life, you have to understand the person that I was before it happened", it begins.

A judge has ruled that Bill Cosby is a "sexually violent predator".

Cosby's attorneys have already filed an appeal. He points to a campaign ad from Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele that mentioned Cosby and attorney Gloria Allred's efforts to extend the statute of limitations for sex assault victims.

She testified that she took three blue pills Cosby offered her during a visit to his home outside Philadelphia in early 2004 because she trusted Cosby and believed they were some kind of an herbal relaxant.

After inviting her to his mansion in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, Constand said that Cosby drugged and raped her.

Camille Cosby, Bill Cosby's wife, said in a statement that she had retained a former prosecutor to facilitate her efforts to "uncover the truth" regarding what she says is a feud between O'Neill and Castor.

Psychologist Kristen Dudley testified on Monday that Cosby showed signs of a mental disorder and was likely to reoffend.

Steele said, "He was good at hiding this for a long time - good at suppressing this for a long time.So it's taken a long time to get there".

Prosecutors released Constand's five-page letter to the judge in which she described the impact of Cosby's assault.

Cosby became the first black actor to star in a prime-time TV show, I Spy, in 1965.
