Slight risk for severe weather this Tuesday evening

The National Weather Service says a warm front arriving in the region will bring "soaking heavy rain" to the Bay State, which could cause some street flooding.

Forget yesterday's news. Get what you need today in this early-morning email. A total of 5 to 10 mm of rain is forecast with a high of 20 C that will feel like 27 C. The overnight low is 7 C.

Forecasters said 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected, and as much as 3 inches in certain areas.

A mix of sun and cloud and 40 per cent chance of showers is on tap for Friday with a high of 20 C and low of 7 C.

Jimmy Garoppolo suffers torn ACL
San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that the team feared Garoppolo had a torn ACL. "We'll find out tomorrow". Garoppolo's left knee buckled just before the Chiefs' cornerback delivered a shoulder-to-shoulder blow, sending Garoppolo down.

The National Storm Prediction Center has outlooked the Chicago area for a Slight Risk of potentially severe storms later this Tuesday afternoon and evening that also includes southern Wisconsin, eastern Iowa, much of IL and IN as well as southern lower MI and northwestern OH (see yellow-shaded area on the highlighted map).

WEDNESDAY | Rain and storm chances mainly early.

As bad as that may sound, forecasters said Wednesday shouldn't be a complete washout, as we could see "many hours of dry weather and possibly a few breaks of sunshine", forecasters said. Lows will be in the mid 50s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, high of 66.
