Jimmy Garoppolo suffers torn ACL

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that the team feared Garoppolo had a torn ACL. "We'll find out tomorrow". Feel for him personally.

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo exited Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a non-contact knee injury late in the fourth quarter.

Garoppolo's left knee buckled just before the Chiefs' cornerback delivered a shoulder-to-shoulder blow, sending Garoppolo down. It appeared the injury happened as Garoppolo planted his left leg and tried to push up field along the sideline. Garoppolo easily could have stepped out of bounds, but instead he was crushed on his throwing shoulder and had to leave. The 49ers' game plan was essentially thrown out the window after Kansas City got off to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, meaning Shanahan and Co. would have to play "come from behind" football - a situation they could ill afford to do.

"That was his fault", Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston said after the game. You got the yardage you need, you step out of bounds.

There also will be live music that will incorporate sounds of the hurricane hitting the island. Protests were planned in San Juan and elsewhere, as well as a funeral procession.

Garoppolo signed a five-year deal worth up to $137.5 million last offseason. "It's a team you have to stay disciplined on and play your assignment". It featured all of his touchdowns, including a wild scramble that led to the first-year starter somehow finding Chris Conley in the back of the end zone to make it 21-7 in the second quarter. "We'll all be men about it".

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was injured after a tackle by defensive back Steven Nelson.

Top cornerback Richard Sherman went down with a calf injury, while backup Tarvarius Moore left with a wrist injury.
