Spain thrashes Croatia 6-0 in UEFA Nations League

Croatia, for whom Ivan Rakitic was making his 100th appearance, rarely got to grips with their opponents and conceded three times more in the second half through Rodrigo Moreno, Sergio Ramos and Isco.

La Roja dominated the match after Saul Niguez started the scoring with an expert header off a cross from Dani Carvakhal in the 24th minute.

It was the biggest defeat ever for Croatia, which was playing its first competitive game since reaching the World Cup final in Russian Federation.

Spain will host Croatia at Elche's Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero on Tuesday as the UEFA Nations League competition continues. However, it is the biggest defeat in Croatia's history, so it was a dismal day for them.

Vrsaljko provided Ivan Perisic with another chance during Croatia's early barrage but Spain's own right-back came to the rescue as Dani Carvajal tracked the Inter Milan winger to make a crucial intervention 10 yards from goal.

Enrique took over Spain after the team's elimination against Russian Federation in the round of 16 of the World Cup.

Rodrigo scored after slipping past the Croatian backline on a through-ball from Asensio in the 49th minute.

He also said he would participate in any review by the administration following the publication of the New York Times article. Pence, in his Sunday comments, insisted that the investigation hasn't been a main concern for the White House.

The Real Madrid winger got his second assist of a spectacular display before the hour mark, his corner finding the head of the unmarked Ramos, who made no mistake from eight yards out.

And finally, a memorable result was capped by a final goal by Isco.

Luis Enrique's charges got their campaign underway over the weekend with a 2-1 win over England at Wembley Stadium.

The centre-back was consistently excellent in Russian Federation but was given a torrid time here.

Rodrigo - who scored the victor at Wembley - beat the offside trap before finishing neatly, Ramos headed in from a corner and Isco turned sharply before firing in from inside the box.

To reach the Nations League finals next June, Spain need just two points from their remaining two games, at home to England and away to Croatia.

Croatia meet the Three Lions in a repeat of the World Cup semi-final on October 12 in Rijeka.
