Woodward Says His Anonymous Sources More Credible Than Public Denials, Trump Responds

How has the President responded to the seriousness of the charges contained within Woodward's book, and those that the author leveled himself on Monday?

Trump and several high-profile White House staffers have hit back hard against Woodward's book, quotes attributed to administration officials, and the reliance on anonymous sourcing. "I am proud of my service in the Trump administration, and I continue to support the president and his economic agenda", Cohn said in a statement provided to Axios.

Woodward told NBC that Mattis and Kelly made "political statements to protect their jobs" when they denied making quotations attributed to them in his book.

"I mean, we've seen that happen with everything", he said.

During the ABC interview, Trump Jr. said he believes the commentary was written by a "low-level person", and he said that the Justice Department should investigate the author, as his father has suggested.

But Woodward says in his book there was an even more risky tweet that wasn't sent, declaring that Trump was withdrawing the family members of USA troops from South Korea.

Woodward: Mattis, Kelly denials of quotes in his book are untrue
Hughes cautions, however, that the op-ed may have been heavily edited by the newspaper, rendering the analysis speculative at best.

From left, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and national security adviser John Bolton listen as U.S. President Donald Trump meets with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House in Washington. "But someone actively trying to undermine the duly elected president and the entire executive branch of government, that seems quite problematic to me and something they should take a look at", she said.

Bob Woodward's revelatory book about the extent of dysfunction in the Trump administration, Fear, already has a million copies in print, and it hasn't even gone on sale.

It goes without saying that "clipped" is not just a "crude" way of describing gender confirmation surgery for trans women, but a very inaccurate way of doing so. Democrats can't stand losing. But I really appreciate their statement.

Trump paid tribute Tuesday to the victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks, giving special honor to the passengers of United Flight 93, who charged the cockpit of their plane to stop hijackers from attacking Washington, D.C. As bells tolled and Americans stood in silence across the country, the president and first lady Melania Trump visited the Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

"I stole it off his desk", Cohn later told an associate, according to Woodward.

On Monday, Trump tweeted that "the Woodward book is a Joke - just another assault against me, in a barrage of assaults, using now disproven unnamed and anonymous sources". He added, "He and I both know this story is total BS".
