Woodward: Mattis, Kelly denials of quotes in his book are untrue

Bob Woodward's book, Fear: Trump In The White House, will be available in U.S. bookshops on Tuesday after a week of excerpts, leaks and interviews that portray the president as dangerously erratic and uninformed.

"He says these are all unnamed sources, but these are not unnamed instances", Woodward said on NBC.

The book has already given many explosive accounts of the inner workings of the White House, through "hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand sources, meeting notes, [and] personal diaries", according to its official description. Dems can't stand losing.

Trump's White House is reeling from Bob Woodward's well-sourced book detailing dysfunction and the brink of emergency in his administration.

According to excerpts obtained by media outlets, Trump's aides describe him as a "liar" and an "idiot" who is running a "crazytown".

But the controversy is unlikely to ease in the week ahead.

"Fear: Trump in the White House" hits United States bookstores on Tuesday after a weeklong buildup, with published excerpts, leaks and interviews that portray Trump as dangerously erratic and uninformed.

Not to be outdone, "Fear: Trump in the White House", written by famed Watergate reporter Bob Woodward, purportedly paints a disturbing picture of Trump's tumultuous 20 months as commander in chief. According to the op-ed, some members of Trump's own administration are so fed up and anxious that they have talked about using the 25th Amendment to remove him from office. It would also tarnish America's image in the world and could offer openings to adversaries if the White House is constantly distracted. That anonymous Times op-ed writer claims to be part of an inside "resistance", whose mission is to protect the country by neutralizing Trump's potentially unsafe impulses.

When an ABC News/Washington Post poll came about before Labor Day Weekend and showed that Trump's approval rating was only 36%, his supporters were hoping that the poll would be an outlier.

On September 4, jury selection started in the second criminal trial of Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort-who is facing charges of obstruction of justice and money laundering. When I worked in Washington during the Bill Clinton years, senior members of the administration would talk anonymously with him out of their own sense of fear - fear that their views, their spin, their contribution to the Clinton presidency would not be valued properly and that some rival would get his or her message across more effectively.

A 48-year-old finance manager and a 25-year-old contractor were also killed. "We're a bit rattled". A 37-year-old Louisville woman, Whitney Austin, is in stable condition after being shot 12 times.

"I would agree to take it in a heartbeat and submit to any review the administration wanted to do", Pence said. "It gives a date, it gives a time, who participates, most often the president himself and what he says".

"The honorable thing to do here is for this individual to recognize that they are literally violating an oath". Hughes cautions, however, that the op-ed may have been heavily edited by the newspaper, rendering the analysis speculative at best.

More recently, Trump has accused Woodward of fabricating quotes and questioned whether USA libel laws could be changed so that people who believe they have been wronged would be in a better position to seek "retribution".

- Mr Trump on attorney general Jeff Sessions: "This guy is mentally retarded".

But Woodward said they are "not telling the truth".

"President Trump's impulses are generally anti-trade and anti-democratic", the column said.

Some pundits are now beginning to wonder if Democrats have a narrow path to victory in the Senate as well. "What does this do to the credibility of the New York Times?".

That claim aside, people inside the West Wing say the identity of the writer remains a topic of heated discussion as reports emerged that a list of possible authors had been drawn up.

"I think that would be a complete and utter waste of our time", she said. "Election night will be very interesting indeed!"
