Mass shooting leaves multiple dead in Jacksonville, FL, authorities say

Several people were killed in a mass shooting during a video game tournament at a waterfront shopping complex in the northern Florida city of Jacksonville, police said Sunday.

The Miami Herald newspaper said the shooting happened at a video game tournament and counted four dead and 11 wounded.

The sheriff's department's Twitter indicated that many had sought safety in locked rooms in areas surrounding The Landing.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Federal Authorities were at a home near South Baltimore on Sunday night as part of an investigation into the Jacksonville mass shooting.

Police in Florida say they have located and impounded the suspect's vehicle.

Sounds of the shooting were captured as the gaming tournament was being livestreamed.

President Trump's daughter and special adviser to the president, Ivanka Trump, shared a short message about the tragic shooting in Jacksonville, Fla., today. "Please don't come running out", the sheriff's office said.

A shocking mass shooting has reportedly occurred during the live Madden NFL tournament in Jacksonville, FL on August 26 and police are warning people to stay out of the risky area. And one woman who was not shot, but was hurt while fleeing was treated for minor injuries at Baptist Medical Center, spokeswoman Cindy Hamilton said.

The maker of the Madden NFL video games, EA Sports, lists a David Katz as the victor of a 2017 championship among gamers representing NFL team The Buffalo Bills.

Two years ago a gunman killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

Authorities say that Katz opened fire at the GLHF Gaming Bar at The Jacksonville Landing around 1 p.m.
