Trump warns he'll revoke clearance of Justice Dept official

"Many people don't even know who [McRaven] is, and now he has a bigger voice".

Trump denied attempting to muzzle Brennan. "For him to be in the Justice Department, and to be doing what he did, that is a disgrace", Trump said.

Speaking to reporters days after he revoked the clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan, Trump said that Mueller has a lot of conflicts.

The letter reads in part, "The evidence of a direct connection between the Russian government and Donald Trump's presidential campaign continues to mount and has led Michael Morrell, the former Acting Central Intelligence Director, to call Trump an "unwitting agent" of Russia and the Kremlin".

Asked whether Trump plans to yank other clearances, Conway said: "That's up to the president".

Former officials often retain security clearance after leaving office to allow their successors to consult them on issues of the day.

McRaven was commander of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command from 2011 to 2014, and oversaw the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.

Trump on Wednesday openly tied his decision to strip Brennan of his clearance - and threaten almost a dozen other former and current officials - to the ongoing investigation into Russian election meddling and possible collusion with his campaign.

Crash outside Parliament in London treated as terrorism
The force said: "At 7.37am today, Tuesday, August 14, a auto was in collision with barriers outside the Houses of Parliament". Westminster station has been closed for both entry and exit due to the security alert, Transport for London said .

"So I think it's something that had to be done", he added.

President Trump said he expects to "quickly" revoke the security clearance for the Justice Department official whose wife worked for the firm involved in producing the dossier on Trump's ties to Russian Federation.

Democrats accused the president of trying to punish his critics.

"Therefore, I would consider it an honor if you would revoke my security clearance as well, so I can add my name to the list of men and women who have spoken up against your presidency", McRaven said. This week, Brennan lambasted Trump's personal character after he derided former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman as a "dog". "You could just see from the tone of the letter that he had had enough".

In announcing Comey's firing, the White House initially cited the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's handling of the probe into Democratic rival Clinton's emails, seizing on the Federal Bureau of Investigation director's decision to divulge details of the probe to the public during her campaign against Trump.

But Republicans, including some who've been critical of Mr. Trump, said Mr. Brennan has crossed lines with his vicious criticism of the new president.

That directly contradicted a July 2017 statement from Trump Jr. - written with the consultation of the White House - that claimed the meeting had been primarily about adoption.
