Everton clinched the signing of their top defensive target, Yerry Mina, in a potential £28.5million deal as Marco Silva made three deadline-day signings to continue the reshaping of his squad.

Despite interest from Manchester United and Lyon in the 23-year-old, and a six-week pursuit by Everton, the defender was finally secured on a five-year deal for an initial €30.25m (£27.2m) plus €1.5m in add-ons.

Mina, for whom Barca have retained a buy-back option, said the chance to play alongside Gomes and Lucas Digne - who made the same switch last week - played a part in his decision to join Marco Silva's men.

Everton also brought in Richarlison from Watford in a £40m move while highly-fancied Brazilian Bernard snubbed Chelsea and West Ham to move to Merseyside on a free transfer.

Everton's season-long loan deal for Portugal's Gomes will see them pay 2.25 million euros (RM10.6 million) and the player's wages.

"Every discussion we've had was very important in making me feel his confidence about my game".

"FC Barcelona and Everton FC have reached an agreement over the loan of the player André Gomes for the 2018/19 season", it read. "I believe I will be able to show my best as a player here".

Gomes and Mina could be registered in time to face Wolves in the Premier League opener this Saturday, but that game may come too soon for them as they look to bed in at Everton.

Asked specifically about his chat with Silva, he continued: 'I did not need a lot of convincing.
