Sony Introduces Translucent ‘500 Million Limited Edition’ PlayStation 4 Pro

Those that enjoy the little details will be happy to know that there will be a copper plate affixed to the front, each stamped with a unique number.

Update: Over 525.3 million PlayStations have been sold! It's more than just a bog-standard PS4 Pro, though.

The swanky special edition console will be limited to just 50,000 units, and will retail for $499.99.

Sony is also prepping a dark blue translucent DualShock 4 controller for $64.99 United States dollars and $74.99 CAD, and a similarly styled Gold Wireless Headset for $99.99 USD and $119.99 CAD.

The 2TB 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro is a gorgeous deep blue with translucent elements.

"Extra Special" serial numbers like 09995, which is the USA launch date of the original PS, will be available. To celebrate that accomplishment, Sony is releasing a limited edition 500 Million PlayStation 4 Pro gaming console.

All of the hardware, including the console itself, will go on sale from August 24, with pre-orders starting at most major retailers at 10am Tuesday, August 14.

If you're as old as I am, then you'll remember the day Sony launched its first PlayStation way back in 1995 (1994 in Japan). You can also purchase the 500 Million Limited Edition DualShock 4 separately for $65.

For those who don't want to purchase the PS4 Pro, the 500 Million Limited Edition DualShock 4 will also be available for $64.99 United States dollars / $74.99 CAD.

The limited edition DualShock and Gold Wireless Headset will be available in select quantities at North American retail in September.
