Mickelson, Woods set for November showdown in Las Vegas

Rumblings of a Woods-Mickelson showdown surfaced a few weeks ago, with Mickelson telling's Alan Shipnuck the event almost took place July 3 in Vegas.

The one-on-one match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will take place over Thanksgiving at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, reports ESPN's Mike Greenberg.

The event will be either Friday, Nov. 23 or Saturday, Nov. 24 of Thanksgiving weekend.

Woods and Mickelson could iron out the rest of the details this weekend, as both are competing at the 2018 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, which begins Thursday at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Mickelson said he was drawn to the idea of bypassing "all the ancillary stuff of a tournament and just go head-to-head and just have kind of a high-stake, winner-take-all match", the Post noted.

United States eyes freeze of fuel efficiency rules
The administration's assertion that lighter, more fuel efficient cars are more risky has been disputed by transport experts. Opponents are concerned about the rollback's effects on air quality.

The duo have been rivals for much of their careers, with Mickelson a long-time number two to Woods' domination as world No.1.

The possibility of a contest between the former Ryder Cup team-mates has been mooted since the Players Championship in May, when they played the first two rounds at Sawgrass in the same group.

According to PGA statistics, Woods has lifetime tour earnings of $112.2 million, 79 tour wins and 14 majors titles. Mickleson saying, "Now, I don't know if he wants a piece of me, but I just think it would be something that would be really fun".

It's expected both Woods and Mickelson will play a major part in the U.S Ryder Cup team in September. "We'll play for whatever makes him uncomfortable".
