Manchester United Confirm The Departure Of Talented 22-Year-Old Star

Some are even discussing which manager would take over at Manchester United if Mourinho chose to leave the club, with some big names mentioned among the bookies favourites.

The player responded yesterday by tweeting: "Thank you all for your posts".

"My little Swan is fine, for the mother it was more hard, but thank God she is better now. Back in Manchester tomorrow".

Martial's agent confirmed that the forward wanted to leave Manchester United earlier this summer and Jose Mourinho has been publicly critical of the Frenchman in recent months.

Martial is keen to quit Old Trafford after spending much of last season on the bench, but United are reluctant to sell to another English club, even though there is interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

McGarry continued: "He has been throughout his career a manager who has used in title-winning season a maximum of 19 players over the majority of the season".

Earlier this week, Mourinho criticised Martial for not returning promptly to America.

The United boss was pressed on whether Martial would be part of his squad upon their return to Manchester and would only say: "I don't know".

After United's 4-1 defeat by Liverpool in MI on Saturday, Mourinho called on Martial to come back.
