And he's rejecting the premise like an opponent's ill-advised layup.

Trump called Lemon "the dumbest man on television", then implied LeBron is dumb.

The Warriors were uninvited from the White House after star guard Stephen Curry said they do not want celebrate their championship with the traditional visit. Trump's tweet appeared to be in reaction to Lemon's interview with James, which actually aired four days ago on Monday night.

Indeed, this week's exchange is just the latest in a long-running feud between James and the president.

Trump's comment sparked huge reaction on Twitter from James' backers.

James, who ranks seventh in career National Basketball Association scoring, also told CNN Tuesday he would "never sit across" from Trump, whom he accuses of emboldening racists. "Sport has given me everything I could ever ask for". "I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them, and they got the opportunity to learn about me ..." I was like this is all because of sports.

He insisted that his institution be a public school, as he could relate to the pitfalls that Akron youth must face.

How John Kelly became "chief in name only"
In April, Kelly denied reports that he called Trump an "idiot" and mocked his lack of policy knowledge. Trump on Monday tweeted congratulations to Kelly on reaching the one-year milestone.

"For me, everything where I grew up was on top of the refrigerator", he explained.

The Lakers complemented James' arrival on the team though by signing several veterans to one-year deals, allowing the team to adopt a win-now mentality despite their young core.

The basketball player appeared at a rally for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign in his home state of OH, a critical swing state during the election that Trump ended up carrying. "I know everything they dream about and the nightmares they have ... because I've been there".

"I've walked the same streets".

If James' effort is successful, however, it could be easier for other communities with high at-risk populations to get local celebrities to attach their names and funding to their own takes on that model. "I believe there's someone else out there".

James' main focus is helping the next generation conquer their obstacles - with inspiration from the past. I know the trials and tribulations they go through.

"I think (racism's) always been there".
