Indians, Nationals have discussed Bryce Harper trade

The website added the Cleveland Indians have had regular talks about a possible Harper deal, but those discussions have not picked up any momentum.

Would Washington be willing to move Harper with the hopes of re-signing him in the offseason? Word spread that the Washington Nationals were listening to offers for the six-time all-star, and slowly but surely, news trickled out that other teams might have legitimate interest.

Harper will be a free agent at season's end, and while he's not having an MVP-caliber season, he has the potential to be a real difference-maker for a contending team.

The Nationals are one game under.500 leading into Tuesday's non-waiver trade deadline.

Rare blood Moon spectacle TOMORROW night
The total eclipse will last for 1 hour and 43 minutes, wherein the moon will be in flawless alignment with the sun and Earth. An eclipse never travels alone: The lunar event is sandwiched between two partial solar eclipses on July 13 and August 11.

However, Nats GM Mike Rizzo held a press conference on Tuesday morning saying the team is not trading Harper.

No one seems sure what Harper might earn in free agency after struggling to hit above.215 this season while his strikeout rates jumped to their highest point since 2014. Rizzo can't simply get his deal in place and pull the trigger. If any team wants to push all-in with its chips to chase a World Series title this year, at least they now know for sure who to call. If the Phillies offer the best package of players for Harper, that's where he'll go.

The Nationals (52-53) sit on the periphery of both the National League East and NL wild card races.
