Pop star Demi Lovato taken to hospital following a suspected heroin overdose

The singer has reportedly been rushed to the hospital after overdosing on heroin, TMZ reports. But contrary to TMZ's reports, a source close to the star tells ET Canada it was not a heroin related overdose. A source at People has confirmed that the singer is now in "stable" condition. Her condition isn't known, but TMZ reports that she's being treated with Narcan, which is a "medication created to rapidly reverse opioid overdose".

"Momma, I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore / And daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor", Lovato sings on the track.

More information regarding Demi's condition is awaited.

Demi is now mid-way through her world tour and was next due to perform on Thursday in Atlantic City, but the performance has been cancelled.

Earlier, TMZ, citing an unnamed law enforcement source, reported that the victim was the 25-year-old singer and US X Factor judge, who has struggled with substance abuse for years.

Lovato has been very open about her struggles with drug addiction and admitted she tried cocaine for the first time when she was 17.

According to Us Weekly, Wilmer still loves Demi, and their breakup was "just a matter of scheduling and time that they needed to make a romantic relationship work".

In February, Lovato told CBS News that her single, "Tell Me You Love Me" was actually about conquering her addiction as well.

She is being treated as of Tuesday afternoon. Lovato often speaks about how important her fans are to her.

Demi responded to the criticism with: 'I don't have to defend anything but it was red bull'.

Lovato's representatives did not immediately return The Post's inquires. Azalea recently made headlines when she vocalized her support for Lovato to coming clean about her issues on "Sober". It was a promotional video for her Tuesday night appearance on Fox's Beat Shazam music trivia show.
