Keita: I turned down Barça and Bayern for Liverpool

Keita: I turned down Barça and Bayern for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alisson Becker will be his first-choice goalkeeper for the 2018-19 season but says Loris Karius will have another opportunity to prove his worth at Anfield.

When Manchester United signed Paul Pogba in 2016, Klopp was critical and adamant he would "even do it differently if I could spend that money".

Klopp says Alisson needs time to recover after representing Brazil at the World Cup, with Liverpool's opening game of the new Premier League season three weeks away.

"I see him as an "8", he can play "10" as well, maybe in the future he can play "6" as well", he said.

"It was only an opinion in that moment". (This includes five Premier League players). Yes, it's true. But it's better to change opinion than not have one. "We were interested. The player was interested in the project and pretty quick we could do it".

While the likes of Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke have struggled to make an impression, Sturridge has caught the eye every time he has taken to the field.

The £50m star was signed last summer but has only now been able to play for his new side.

Asked about whether Dortmund's Christian Pulisic was a player on his radar, Klopp, who managed the Bundesliga side for seven years, admitted he is a fan of the USA worldwide. But Jurgen Klopp and his men proved everyone wrong, going all the way to the Champions League final, only to meet an unstoppable Real Madrid.

But this past week, Toronto police deployed dozens of additional officers to deal with a recent spike in gun violence in the city. Footage from the scene shows a man walking along the footpath before pulling a pistol and firing through a restaurant window.

That takes the spending for the summer to 195m euros, surpassing the 174m euros spent last season. They know him already.

Liverpool start their season on Sunday August 12 at home to West Ham United.

"He wants to be, I'm sure, the best Christian Pulisic he can be".

"We see him as a creative No 8 playing the passes and making the runs with the ball".

Klopp also said that Mohamed Salah has come back from the World Cup with no problems.

Salah, who was granted an extended break following the World Cup, is with Liverpool in the USA after returning to Melwood on Friday. And the 23-year-old has explained why he snubbed the rest in an interview.

"He was completely fine and is completely fine now", Klopp added.
