Rohani warns Trump: War with Iran 'is the mother of all wars'

Iran's power is deterrent and we have no fight or war with anybody but the enemies must understand well that war with Iran is the mother of all wars and peace with Iran is the mother of all peace.

President Donald Trump has said he is open to a new deal that would cover not only Iran's nuclear facilities, but also its missile programme and regional interventions which are seen as a threat to Washington's Israeli ally. "We see eye to eye that the USA move [to withdraw from the deal] is illegal, against global obligations and to the detriment of the United States and all countries", Rouhani said.

Iranian officials, including Rouhani, have traversed the globe on a diplomatic mission to save the nuclear deal after Washington withdrew from the agreement in May.

On Sunday, Iran's ground forces commander became the latest military figure to back Rouhani's apparent threat, the semi-official news agency Tasnim reported.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Larijani said Iran has a positive view on interaction with Austria, because it was among those countries, which moved to develop cooperation with the Islamic Republic after the signing of the JCPOA in 2015.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that no country in the region will export oil if Iran's exports are stopped.

In past months, the Iranian establishment has faced a range of challenges, including the US withdrawal from the nuclear accord under which Tehran has limited its sensitive nuclear work in exchange for relief from economic sanctions; protests over the worsening economy, water scarcity, and pollution; and unprecedented public protests by women against forced veiling.

The strait is not only used by Iranian ships, but also by Gulf countries who rely on safe passage through the narrow chokepoint to export their oil and gas.

Former student leader Ali Afshari, who was jailed and tortured in Iran, has not been invited to the speech, and he says he wouldn't attend the event even if he was invited.

Iran's economy could take a huge hit due to increased sanctions.

The Trump administration has launched a communications campaign to foment unrest and put pressure on Iran to end its nuclear programme and its support of armed groups, United States officials familiar with the matter said.
