Ritz crackers recalled due to salmonella concerns

The company's whey powder supplier recalled the ingredient due to salmonella concerns.

This recall is limited exclusively to the products listed in the grid below, available at retail stores nationwide. The whey powder manufacturer has also recalled its product.

Consumers who have these products should not eat them, and should discard them.

The recalled Ritz crackers were sold in packs of 180 grams, 30 X 42 grams and 42 grams. "Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections", the agency warns.

People infected with salmonella can develop diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick, the agency said.
