O's narrow Machado talks; Phillies a major suitor

Peter Schmuck of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Red Sox have been in "recent contact" with the Orioles about a Manny Machado trade.

April 13, 2018; Boston, MA, USA: Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado hits an RBI double during the seventh inning against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Entering Tuesday, Boston held a 2.5-game lead over NY, so Machado could tip the scales one way or the other in the American League East.

The Orioles are definitely in the market for controllable starting pitchers, which the Phillies have a surplus of in their farm system, but it's still unclear who those starting pitchers would be, besides Medina. It's not like the Yankees are in a "win now" mode. That's what they need and who they need to get past Houston.

Soccer fans gather for World Cup final
But when one did, bang - a player hailed as the new Pelé, the former three-time World Cup victor with Brazil, had arrived. My career began spectacularly, and now at 25, I've won the World Cup. "It's been a great season for me".

As it stands right now, the Baltimore Orioles and Dodgers are reportedly (subscription required) haggling over the price of Machado, but here we'll take a look at five Dodgers prospects whose names have been thrown around in the Machado trade rumors. Jim Bowden of the Athletic reports that the 22-year-old lefty has not been included in New York's offer.

Could a deal be made by the end of the month?

Regarding the Yankees' scenario, while some fans would undoubtedly bristle at the very notion of moving Andujar, third base is a position of depth for the Yanks, who still have Brandon Drury as an option who could step onto the big league roster following the season, should that scenario ultimately play out. But should the Orioles want a pitcher, the Yankees have a number of them to deal.
