Cher and Meryl Streep stun at Mammia Mia premiere — Blue carpet glamour

While walking the blue carpet, Cher and Streep spent some time in front of the flashbulbs together, presumably basking in their shared glory. Here We Go Again, which debuts in NZ cinemas on July 19. "We're now "besties". The first time we spoke on the phone she called me "babe" and I was just silenced... until I asked her to do it again!".

The Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again soundtrack is on course to debut inside the Top 10 on this week's Official UK Albums Chart. "It's kind of a miracle", Ulvaeus said of the band's success.

The legendary singer has made her return to film in the big-budget musical Mamma Mia!

The first film gleefully plundered 20 sparkling gems from the Abba songbook, including a rousing full cast rendition of Waterloo over the end credits bedecked in straining spandex and sequins.

There was booing after every dot ball, a rare occurrence considering the huge fan base Dhoni enjoys around the cricketing globe. The veteran taking the ball from the umpires might be the indicator that he is retiring from the limited-overs formats as well.

This aligns perfectly with what other stars have said about a particularly emotional moment in the movie with Streep in that exact setting. "Have him washed and brought to my tent", she opines after assessing Andy Garcia's seductive Señor Cienfuegos. It turns out her role as the mother of Meryl Streep's Donna and grandmother of Amanda Seyfried's Sophie inspired her to get back in the recording studio, too, as she's now revealed plans for an ABBA covers album. At least, her husband, Thomas Sadoski, was not a fan - and he's an actor himself!

Thankfully, her mother's best friends, Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters), are on hand to allay Sophie's nerves.

Lily James plays the younger version of her character, and gushed: "When I found out I would be part of the sequel, I was terrified and very excited".

Fragmented chronology hampers dramatic momentum but audiences who loved the first film won't care.
