Chelsea Finally Sack Conte, Set To Name Sarri New Manager

City had been aiming to complete a £50 million (€56m/$66.3m) deal to sign Jorginho , with De Laurentiis confirming he has accepted an offer from the Premier League champions.

Conte led Chelsea to the Premier League in his debut season and, although he could only finish fifth last season, still managed to claim the FA Cup.

Napoli's Sarri saga has rumbled on since the end of last season, with the Italian having two years left on his contract despite the club having already named a successor. Articles appear on euronews.com for a limited time. In the wake of Chelsea's FA Cup win, Willian obscured Conte in a team celebration photograph posted on Instagram.

Sarri's expected arrival is also expected to see him bring Napoli midfielder Jorginho to the club, with the Blues shaking off interest from Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.

A native of Lecce, Conte signed a two-year extension in August of 2017.

It was clear that the Italian manager would not continue in his role after he fell out with a number of players and openly criticised the club's spending.

One of the greatest players from Chelsea recently tweeted on the news saying "Great man, Great manager".

Why Serena Williams doesn't want coach to speak at Wimbledon
Serena Williams has reflected on how far she's come since giving birth to her daughter, after winning her Wimbledon semi-final. However, unforced errors were her downfall and particularly costly given Williams' unerring accuracy and solid service games.

Meanwhile, Italy midfielder Jorginho looks set to move to Stamford Bridge along with Sarri.

Confusion surrounded Conte's future with speculation rife of his exit, but the Italian returned to training for the first day of pre-season this week.

"Jorginho joining Chelsea does not depend on Sarri [joining Chelsea]", concluded De Laurentiis.

"Let's say that the Sarri affair is nearing its conclusion", De Laurentiis said at the official unveiling of Ancelotti on Wednesday.

'If Chelsea are paying him even more, I can understand that too.

"My lawyers have submitted the text to his lawyers".
