Stormy Daniels Arrested; Lawyer Claims 'Set-Up'

Daniels was arrested at a club in Columbus, Ohio while performing an act she has done at almost 100 strip clubs across America, Michael Avenatti wrote on Twitter. The motion by prosecutors said that the law under which Clifford was arrested applies to people who "regularly" appear nude or seminude at a particular establishment, but that Clifford had not appeared at the club consistently.

After the undercover investigators witnessed Clifford touching strip club patrons, they approached the stage where Clifford was performing, and Clifford made her way toward them - apparently not realizing that they were undercover officers - and treated them much in the same manner as she had previous patrons. Daniels started performing at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to an affidavit filed in Franklin County Municipal Court.

She also allegedly grabbed an undercover officer's face and pressed it between her breasts, CNN reports. Panda, 26, reportedly rubbed another server's exposed butt in front of undercover officers, according to the report.

Avenatti said that a not guilty plea to all counts would be entered on his client's behalf on Thursday (Friday NZT), so she wouldn't have to make the court appearance. Reached by The Post early Thursday, a representative for Sirens strip club declined to comment.

Avenatti had said the arrest was politically motivated and "reeks of desperation".

"Are you kidding me?"

"I think this is ridiculous, I think it's an absurd use of law enforcement resources", he said Thursday morning talking with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle. "There has to be higher priorities", he wrote.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was accused of touching three customers who were undercover vice detectives in the early-morning incident, police in the OH capital Columbus said in a statement.

'This was a setup and politically motivated. We will fight all bogus charges. He said Thursday afternoon in a tweet he was pleased prosecutors dropped the charges and thanked them for their professionalism.

Michael Avenatti, lawyer for the adult film actress and exotic dancer, broke the news that his famous client had been arrested Wednesday night. Anyone dressed like President Donald Trump - who is accused of having an affair with Daniels in 2006 - will get in at half price.

Daniels has said Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen paid her the $130,000. Avenatti alleges the payment was a violation of campaign finance law and was created to suppress speech.

He initially said he used his own money to pay Daniels and was not reimbursed by Trump.

The Columbus Dispatch reported that the law, in effect since 2007, is seldom enforced. If that space is violated by customers, they are generally escorted out. He said she would probably leave the state later in the day.
