Roger Federer scores first win at Wimbledon, in great style!

In the end, it was a well deserved win for Borna Coric.

Borna Coric notched the biggest win of his young career, and his second career ATP title, by beating Roger Federer 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-2 in the Halle final.

"It's a pity for Andy but I really did play my best". However, Coric surprised everyone with this resilience and better game play. So it's a bit unfortunate there.

This was his first victory over Federer in their third career match.

Fighting back in the second set, Federer won 6-3 to force the match to a decider.

But a costly net fault from the 21-year-old Coric allowed Federer to even up the affair in the second set.

That goal was cancelled out by Kendall Waston's header in the 56th minute, the central Americans' first goal of the tournament. South Korea started the tournament with a 1-0 loss to Sweden at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod on June 18.

The opening set went the Croatian's way in a tie-breaker 8-6.

- A seventh Wimbledon title for Federer and 17th major as Murray, bidding to become the first British male victor of a Slam title since Fred Perry in 1936, is left in tears. A game later, the Swiss seed took the set into a tiebreaker.

Elsewhere, a lot will be expected of world number three Alexander Zverev who made the fourth round previous year.

The 32-year-old, who was ousted in the fourth round at the All England Club last year, will play ATP NextGen Finals victor Chung Hyeon on Wednesday and Frenchman Lucas Pouille, a Wimbledon quarterfinalist in 2016, on Friday. He said he had been preparing for this win for many years.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion fought back to level by winning the second set, helped by a choke on a volley from Coric.

The victory at the tournament will be a big positive point, ahead of Wimbledon, for the Swiss maestro who dropped out of clay season to stay fresh for the grass-court tournament.
