The Vivo Nex Looks Like the Future of the Smartphone

The phone also has Vivo Game Engine, which is made in partnership with Tencent Games.

Speaking of the OS, the vivo NEX S gets the so-called Jovi voice assistant. The screen-to-body ratio is 91.24 %. It definitely reminds us of how the Xiaomi Mi Mix influenced the industry when it was released in late 2016.

The Vivo NEX phones will be available only in China for about $780 and $610.

The Vivo Nex is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Both smartphones will be available in Black and Red colour variants, though the top-end 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage variant will only be available in Black.

For photography, there is a 12MP + 5MP dual camera setup at the rear with sensor aperture rate of f/1.8 and f/2.4, respectively.

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono is also heading to Seoul and is due to meet with Pompeo and his South Korean counterpart. "I hope to share this recognition between Japan and the US, or among Japan, US and South Korea ", he told reporters.

The handsets are also speculated to run on the Android Oreo 8.1 on the top of Vivo's custom Funtouch OS. The handset measures 162 x 77 x 7.98mm and weighs 199 grams. There is a micro-slit infrared sensor hidden at the top of the screen. That design helps keep the display bezel-free, though there's still a small chin at the bottom. The cheapest variant with SD710 costs 3,898 Yuan (about Rs 41,000).

Without a notch, Vivo had to make several engineering upgrades to allow users to receive calls and take selfies, since neither a speaker or camera are on the front of the phone.

The back of the phone gets more conventional.

A fingerprint scanner that is placed underneath the screen. It's hard to tell given how unproven, not to mention unconventional, an elevating camera is. As far as the phone's rear-facing camera are concerned, you will find 12 and 5-megapixel sensors back there. The rear camera offers EIS, 4-axis OIS and has support for the dual pixel autofocus technology. So, after innovating the earpiece and front camera design, Vivo has achieved ultra-slim bezels. Vivo has also embraced artificial intelligence for the Nex, adding A.I. elements to the camera including scene recognition, filters, and compositional advice which it had also revealed separately this year. They also pack 4000mAh battery with fast charging support. Taking this consideration, it is believed that three variants of the phone could be dubbed as Vivo NEX, NEX S, and the NEX A. The last two variants - NEX S and NEX A are likely to be toned-down versions that could be powered by Snapdragon 710 chipset.

More importantly, the display incorporates the cool in-display finger print sensor. Vivo says that it's using "Screen SoundCasting Technology", which vibrates the glass of the display to produce audio, according to The Verge. In any case, it should be an improvement over the company's previous devices which sported in-display fingerprint scanners. Vivo hasn't announced when the Nex will go on sale or the price, but the company mainly sells its hardware in China, so you'll have to import a Nex if you want one.
