They say the recession, housing stress, relationship problems and substance abuse are all contributing factors to a recent increase in suicides.

When people take their own lives, the question of "why they did it" arises from the public.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials say suicide, drug overdoses and Alzheimer's disease are three causes of death on the rise, The Indianapolis Star reported.

" The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255), a network of crisis centers, provides free and confidential counseling around the clock for people in distress, including emotional support, resources for callers and their loved ones, and best practices for professionals".
