Federation Internationale de Football Association president Gianni Infantino has revealed that referees will have the authority to abandon matches at the World Cup if there are racist taunts and jibes during the games.

Germany forward Leroy Sane promised that his omission from the world champions' squad would strengthen his resolve as he made his first comments since being left out of the final 23 Monday. "Today is only June 5 and our [opening World Cup] game is June 14 at 6 p.m., if I remember rightly".

Before all that, Iran will face Lithuania on Friday in a freindly match at Spartak Stadium, which is one of Moscow's two World Cup host venues, the other being Luzhniki.

Germany stayed at the top of the rankings, despite being winless in five games and having lost their past two matches in a row.

The price that ISM, a Switzerland-based sports marketing company, offered in the first place was $15 million for a full package including all 64 matches of the tournament, double the money charged for the previous edition of the World Cup in 2014.

England face Tunisia, Panama and Belgium in Group G and they have a 71% chance of reaching the knock-out rounds.
