Syrian Armed Opposition Rep. Urges EU to Force Iran Out of Country

In an interview with RT, Syrian President Bashar Assad said it is vital for Syria to expel United States troops from its territory.

According to a Thursday report of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which says it had obtained details of Russia's proposals for the future of the Syrian south, the foreign military units loyal to the Assad regime will exit the governorates of Quneitra, Daraa and al-Suwayda in southern Syria, near Israel's Golan Heights border.

Assad said he would recover areas of Syria held by the US -backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and that USA forces should learn the lesson of Iraq and leave the country.

"This is the first option".

It was taken as an indication of the regime's decision to demand that Iran close shop on the southern border as a first step in a broader policy of booting Iranian forces completely from Syria, according to the source in the Syrian Army. "Iran is assisting us, but we have no Iranian forces", he said.

"We don't have Iranian troops", Assad said.

"They came to Iraq with no legal basis, and look what happened to them".

The Ha'aretz daily reported earlier that President Vladimir Putin is considering keeping Iranian forces and Hezbollah away from Israel's northern border, fearing that repeated Israeli strikes could undermine Syrian President Bashar Assad's grip on the country.

Assad further urged the U.S. to "to learn the lesson" from Iraq, saying, "People will not accept foreigners in this region anymore". Iraq is no exception.

After President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal, US and Israel apparently see a need to adapt the December agreement to the new reality.

Trump has also blamed his predecessor for supporting Syrian rebels trying to overthrow Assad after a 2011 uprising, saying in 2015 that "Assad may be bad, but we have absolutely no idea who these people are that we're arming".

He added: "The Americans should leave, somehow they're going to leave".

Syria's president is demanding the USA and its western allies to pull their troops out of the war-torn country.

A US -led wave of Western missile strikes on Syrian government targets across the country last month raised fears of a Russian response and full-blown internationalization of the conflict. Asked if he had a nickname for Trump similar to the "animal" comment, Assad replied: "This is not my language, so I can not use similar language".

Trump called Assad an animal after a suspected poison gas attack on a rebel-held town near Damascus in April. There has been no confirmation of such a deal, however, from Russia, Israel or Iran.

Over the last couple of months, Israel has intensified its bombing of military infrastructure in Syria, arguing that the Iranian presence in the Arab Republic jeopardizes its own national security.

He said that Syria's air defences were now much stronger than before thanks to Russian Federation.
