Who makes 23-man Super Eagles squad after provisional list?

The list, which consists of 4 goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 8 midfielders and 8 attackers, also includes Enyimba FC goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Deportivo La Coruna's shot stopper Francis Uzoho.

Midfielders: Mikel John Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi, Uche Agbo, Oghenekaro Etebo, Joel Obi and Mikel Agu.

The 30-man provisional squad was published on Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Twitter handle on Monday.

"The goalkeepers however need to train thrice harder and work more on their confidence".

"I will also not be surprised if maybe, one or two players based on what they are doing presently and their shape now are also able to break into the World Cup squad".

The team's training camp will run from 22 May until 11 June.

This was Hamilton's second pole of the season, having taken the top spot at the season-opener in Australia in March. That changed in Spain, as the Ferrari drivers struggled to get the best out of the tyres and struggled with wear.

Other forwards that made the list include: Moses Simon, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Green and White have never made it past the second round of a World Cup tournament but many pundits have tipped Mikel Obi's led side to reach the semi finals.

Emmanuel Amakiri, the proprietor of Amakson Football Academy said he wasn't completely satisfied with the list, adding that the goalkeeping and defence departments still looked weak.

"So sad for the likes of Brown Ideye and Henry Onyekuru whose names were omitted from the list as they have both struggled in their efforts to get back to fitness ahead of the World Cup".

After the release of the provisional list with names of 30 Nigerian players scattered across the globe, the rush to make the final 23-man squad has just begun.
