AT&T: Hiring Trump attorney Cohen was 'big mistake'

I have consistently condemned the Russian Federation probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. I am willing to participate on any network provided both sides are provided a fair shake.

Meanwhile, Giuliani attracted scrutiny on Friday when he referred to Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing Daniels, as a "pimp" in an interview with Business Insider. "David's number one priority", the CEO wrote to employees, "is to ensure every one of the individuals and firms we use in the political arena are people who share our high standards". But like the rest of the nation's capital, it was caught on the outside looking in by Donald Trump's election triumph.

Rudy Giuliani, center, an attorney for U.S. President Donald Trump, leaves after speaking at the Iran Freedom Convention for Human Rights and democracy at the Grand Hyatt, Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Washington.

But he went further with HuffPost on Friday, saying "he did drain the swamp".

Cohen had reached out to AT&T even before Stephenson's huddle with the president, the person said.

But there is much, much more to do. NPR's justice reporter Ryan Lucas joins us. Members of Congress raise money from the very same corporations that are directly affected by the committees they sit on. The outstanding question: Did politics and Trump influence the DOJ's decision? All while they pocket the cash, of course.

During his first few days as counsel to the president, the former NY mayor made a huge unforced error on Fox News, telling Sean Hannity that Trump reimbursed Michael Cohen for his $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels in 2016.

Trump was told of Schneiderman assaults years ago, lawyer says
Instead, he kept the information to himself as Schneiderman investigated Trump University, and as Trump ran for president. Avenatti is seeking to be heard on a regular basis by Wood on the issue of the confidentiality of some of Cohen's files.

Giuliani said he was trying to say that AT&T's payments to Cohen didn't sway Trump's personal point of view about the deal.

The disclosure of AT&T's ties to Cohen comes a critical moment for the company, which is defending its merger with Time Warner in federal court against the Justice Department's efforts to block the deal. He also said that the company's top lobbyist, Bob Quinn, would be leaving. Nonetheless, Stephenson added, retaining Cohen "was a serious misjudgment". AT&T spent more than $16 million on federal lobbying each of the last two years. The company is just embarrassed because it was caught.

Giuliani made the comments after being asked whether Trump had knowledge that Michael Cohen, his lawyer, had taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from AT&T in the weeks after the election for consulting work on the merger. "They didn't get the result they wanted".

What about all the small businesses in America, the self-employed, the struggling forgotten men and women?

AT&T, Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis, and a Korean aerospace firm have all acknowledged handing Cohen big bucks for some form of assistance. Cohen "was interacting with some of the wealthiest people in the country", one of the sources remarked.

Hilton concluded that "there has to be a proper reckoning for the damage Cohen has done with his cynical, shameless behavior".

"Companies often hire consultants for these purposes, especially at the beginning of a new presidential administration, and we have done so in previous administrations, as well", the company said in the email.
