UK, French, German foreign ministers to meet over Iran on Tuesday

Merkel and Putin reiterated that Germany and Russian Federation are seeking to preserve the agreement between the remaining parties, according to the statement.

The Iran agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, was signed between Iran, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (China, the U.S., UK, France and Russia), Germany and the EU.

Foreign Ministers from the European Union member countries are expected to hold a crisis meeting with Iran in London on Monday in a bid to save the deal.

According to Merkel's official spokesperson Steffen Seibert, the German chancellor proposed new talks addressing Iran's ballistic missile program as a potential means to salvage the deal.
