76ers' Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Excited For Future After Loss To Celtics

Shortly after the Philadelphia 76ers' season-ending loss on Wednesday, Ben Simmons approached Joel Embiid and held out his empty hands.

And there seemingly is a mutual respect between the up-and-coming teams, with both Embiid and fellow Sixers star Ben Simmons even heaping praise on the Celtics' fans after Wednesday's game at TD Garden. Peak Embiid. The only thing lacking was a 3-pointer, but he finished with 27 points (9-for-18 shooting), 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks in his best performance of the postseason.

Even if Embiid and the Sixers found a way to win Game 5, they still faced a severe uphill battle to win two more and do what's literally never been done in an National Basketball Association playoff series.

Embiid just turned 24, and Simmons is only 21.

"We feel like when everybody's on we're unbeatable", the always self-assured Embiid shared.

Embiid is right. Should the pair stay healthy and should the Sixers continue to build on their success in the right way, the Sixers should have a bright, competitive future.

After the game, Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown said he wasn't ready to reflect on anything the Sixers might have accomplished during the season. We committed a lot of mistakes [in the series]. We felt like we had a good chance to get to at least the conference finals and that was our goal.

With the victory, Boston will face LeBron James and Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight season.
