Golovkin wants Canelo rematch after destroying Martirosyan

Golovkin wants Canelo rematch after destroying Martirosyan

He's read the harsh critiques.

Unbeaten Gennady Golovkin returns to the boxing ring this Saturday night to face Vanes Martirosyan for the WBA, WBC and IBO Middleweight titles.

And he has a message for those critics: Talk to me Sunday morning. "Whenever there was a catchweight in my career, I always did better".

Martirosyan, while undoubtedly a skilled fighter who has a respectable 36-3-1 record, is hardly the caliber of opponent for such a highly regarded fighter on a traditionally big calendar date for boxing.

Although he kept his titles, the fights were too close for comfort for Golovkin. He was suspended in mid-April for testing positive twice for the banned substance clenbuterol.

There is a lot at stake for him.

"Everybody has always avoided me and from now on, this is how it's going to be". Subliminal insults on commercials for an internationally known brand, downplaying the desire to fight Canelo again, offering disappointed fight fans something to watch without the original paywall, and the promise of a violent showcase, is the ideal recipe to the building an even bigger event in the near future. "They are never the same after they go rounds with Gennady".

Champions League: Real Madrid Won't Come Easy, Klopp Warns Players
Although Roma were awarded a penalty in both legs, Monchi insisted his team should have been awarded more spot kicks. Everyone in the Champions League has quality. "I knew before that Seville is one of the most hard places to go.

Known to be one of the most prolific and explosive punchers in the sport, Golovkin outperformed and outclassed his rival throughout.

On a night he'd hoped would be the crowning achievement of his career, when he figured he'd make an eight-figure purse and definitively establish himself as the best middleweight in the world, Golovkin essentially had to settle for a tune-up. Martirosyan, though, isn't pleased.

Martirosyan (36-3-1, 21 KOs) has trained in the southern California boxing scene all his life, before being guided by the legend Freddie Roach and training out of Wild Card Boxing club, he is now with Glendale based trainer Edmond Tarverdyan, who is well-known for training former UFC women's champion Ronda Rousey. Martirosyan points out he was 4-0 with three knockouts with Tarverdyan in his corner. "They keep saying things like nothing happened". Roach, he said, left him hanging. "Golovkin can not be careless going into this fight but no matter how it plays out he is sure to produce fireworks that will have fans on the edge-of-their-seats".

"Absolutely", Golovkin said. "I want everyone". The first day I showed up at his gym, he had gone the day before to Manila to train [Manny] Pacquiao and he left with no notice to me. Or, will Martirosyan hand him his first loss?

This is a big opportunity for the Armenian-American fighter.

"It was an awesome first women's fight on HBO, and we should do a rematch, for sure". "It's very important for me and boxing people, for everything". I didn't want to waste time. I beat Andre Berto. I'm not fighting a robot. I was a nightmare for so many guys. "You see what you get". "In the second round, I came out all business after I felt him out in the first round".
