Turkey Opposition Names Combative MP as Erdogan Challenger

Ince is one of the most spirited speakers from the opposition in parliament.

Yet Ince's greatest political assets are his rhetorical skills and impassioned speeches which have made him a favorite with the CHP faithful in recent years.

Ince's tough talking has drawn a sharp contrast with the more bookish manners of Kilicdaroglu, who has led the CHP since 2010 but without ever seriously troubling Erdogan.

Ichiro won't play anymore in 2018 and Dipoto said he hopes the superstar will continue to be with the Mariners for the long term. Right-handed pitcher Erik Goeddel has been selected from AAA Tacoma to fill Ichiro's spot on the Major League, 25-man, roster.

Ince had previously tried to unseat Kilicdaroglu as the head of the party, but failed to gain enough support among party delegates to replace the chief, who has been in the job for eight years.

Meanwhile, four opposition parties are expected to announce over the weekend that they will be joining forces against the AKP in parliamentary elections on the same date. Erdogan, 64, was first elected president in August 2014. The vote will usher in the powerful executive presidency approved in last April's referendum-a new chapter in Turkish politics.

"With the alliance, we announce Recep Tayyip Erdogan as our presidential candidate", Yildirim said, referring to the People's Alliance the AK Party formed with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which has also endorsed Erdogan. Party leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu has said he would not run for president. On May 2 it is expected that Saadet (Happiness) party will officially apply to the Supreme Election Council to nominate its leader Temel Karamollaoglu's candidacy.
