Possible motive in Mill Valley double shooting: tenant-landlord dispute

A Mill Valley apartment shooting in which a woman was killed, a man was injured and the gunman found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot Thursday may have been a landlord-tenant dispute, authorities said Friday.

A woman runs away as law enforcement officers point their guns during an active shooting situation at a Mill Valley apartment complex, May 3, 2018.

Deputies found the wounded victims after responding to a report of shots being fired at the apartment complex on east Blithedale Avenue shortly before 3:30 p.m., authorities said. They said Lugo opened fire on his landlord and daughter after the two went to the man's apartment to talk to him about a pending eviction. The landlord is still in the hospital, but expected to survive.

A revolver was found lying at the feet of the suspect who was described as 80-year-old male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and wearing a white shirt.
