Google Assistant Now Works With More Than 5000 Smart Home Devices

As of today, the Google Assistant can control 5,000 smart home devices, which Google says includes cameras, dishwashers, doorbells, dryers, lights, plugs, thermostats, security systems, switches, vacuums, washers, fans, locks, sensors, heaters, AC units, air purifiers, refrigerators, and ovens. This month a new Google Assistant connection to DISH's Hopper family of receivers will empower more millions of people to skip the remote and manage their sets with voice commands.

In Australia, more and more sound brands are integrating the Google Assistant into their products, including JBL, Sony, Panasonic and Klipsch.

All the Google Home integrations are wrapped up in the existing Explore page, so if you have smart stuff in your house and you'd prefer to control it with your voice rather than your smartphone, it's worth checking what's compatible.
