Warriors tear up the nets in game 1 against Pelicans

In a shocking turn of events, #Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans swept the Portland Trailblazers [VIDEO] in the first round of the National Basketball Association playoffs.

A day before the Warriors begin their second-round series with the New Orleans Pelicans, Curry said he is making significant progress toward a return soon.

Playoff Rondo was nothing short of wonderful in the Blazers series. "Then when he went down, we had to change everything again". Really, the only starter who didn't get in on the action was new addition Nick Young, who finished with six points on just four shots. "You can't make it up as you go along, because they're going to take advantage of you".

Needless to say, New Orleans will be facing an uphill battle. Here are three factors that could help the Pelicans potentially beat a vulnerable Warriors team. Jrue Holiday chipped in 41 points plus eight assists, E'Twaun Moore added 14 and Nikola Mirotic had 10 points plus 11 rebounds.

The Warriors hope to have two-time MVP Stephen Curry back from an MCL sprain that's kept him sidelined since March 23. The Warriors had enough firepower to knock off the creaky Spurs, who were offensively challenged all season without their superstar Kawhi Leonard.

Golden State, for the most part, has struggled in his absence.

Green Bay Packers rumored to want Alabama's Minkah Fitzpatrick
In fact, the last time that they did so was back in the 2009 NFL Draft when they made an aggressive move to get Clay Matthews. Baker was a two-year starter at Ohio State, as he played a majority of his snaps as a weakside linebacker in their 4-3 scheme.

Dominant is also the name of the Warriors' game.

Davis' daunting playoff averages: 33 points, 12 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. The Pelicans have won nine consecutive games by averaging 118.2 points and shooting 52% from the field and 40% from three-point range.

Green was a spark in every facet of the game, finishing the opening half just two assists short of a triple double, a feat he accomplished in the early minutes of the third quarter while playing a total of only 30 minutes for the game.

Davis' counterpart, Draymond Green, had a monster game. Golden state favored by 9.5.

After a neck-and-neck first quarter, the Warriors caught fire in the second frame on their way to their highest scoring playoff half in franchise history, and rode that all the way to victory. "Very few people saw the Pelicans winning the series, but of all the possible matchups, Portland was about the best they could have gotten". The Pelicans don't play anywhere near the defense the Spurs do and, in Saturday's Game 1 at Oracle Arena, they tried to play with the Warriors pace on offense. That will be another dynamic for the Pelicans to contend with on the defensive end.

Horford is basically the only legitimate play at center with the likes of Thon Maker and JaVale McGee nowhere close to being reliable. Their last defeat was Sunday April 1st at home to Oklahoma City.
