H1Z1 Battle Royale Coming to PlayStation 4

H1Z1 Battle Royale Coming to PlayStation 4

Daybreak Games announced this morning that their recently-released (though long-in-development) battle royale game, H1Z1, is finally coming to the PS4, even though the release was initially announced more than two years ago.

According to an announcement from the developers, the game has been streamlined for the console experience with "more guns, more vehicles, more weapons, a streamlined user interface, familiar console controls and faster matches".

But H1Z1 is not technically new, as on PC it predates both games. While the game won't be in open beta until next month, players can sign up now for the first Closed Beta, which starts this month. "We have reimagined the game for PlayStation 4 and have designed it to accentuate the essentials of battle royale that make the genre so exciting to watch and play", said H1Z1's producer, Terrence Yee. Beginning on 22nd May, you'll be able to download the beta and sample the game for yourself. The move to console isn't unexpected, seeing that other battle royal games have made the move to console as well. PlayStation Plus Members will receive 20% off their preorder purchase.

Capitalizing on increased mobility, the PS4 edition takes H1Z1's signature fast-paced combat one step further by introducing new gameplay progression mechanics.

The game’s gas pacing has been altered to speed up the play of the match and the airdrop system has been revamped to keep players moving and invested in fights.

Six new guns have also been added to the game, including the KH43, Marauder, MK46, Combat Shotgun, CNQ-09, and Scout Rifle. Just find one of the many special crates hidden throughout the map containing level 2 and 3 gear.

This console version is specifically designed for the PS4 and includes a new weapon and gameplay progression system, re-designed UI and HUD, new weapons, new gear and a reworked loot system and inventory management.

From now until the open beta launch on May 22, you can pre-order a $30 bundle that comes with guaranteed cosmetic items and a dynamic PS4 theme.
