"It's such an easy thing that everyone can try to do to help", Stokke, 25, said in a phone interview.

Good intentions are not enough to help the 4,500 people in Canada who now need a life-saving organ transplant, Gavsie said.

"Receiving a transplant gives you another chance at life".

"One man with liver cancer received Travis' liver, while another man with cancer received his right kidney and pancreas, said Damiano, a volunteer with the New England Donor Services".

She thinks the conversation around organ donations should begin in schools.

"We have a separation between the doctors who are working to save your life".

Roberta Koscielny, a spokeswoman for Transplant Manitoba, said between Friday morning and Monday afternoon, there was an increase of 423 organ donor registrations.

Past speculation has been that Deutsche Telekom would become the majority owner, which may not sit well with SoftBank's Son. The Department of Justice is now suing AT&T over concerns its $85 billion grab of Time Warner will harm consumers.

Both were joined by Mayor James Fiorentini, state Rep. Linda Dean Campbell, D-Methuen, and Matt Boger, director of state relations for New England Donor Services.

The Canadian Press reports that by Monday, April 8, almost 900 people in Alberta had expressed interest in becoming an organ donor, compared to the average of 425 normally seen over a two-day period.

Only 20 per cent of Canadians have registered as organ donors, she said, despite surveys suggesting that 90 per cent of the country supports the cause.

"That question would you like to register as an organ or tissue donor is a voluntary question", said Boger, who noted that the state Department of Public Health is now running a campaign educating people about organ and tissue donation. "You never know when this kind of tragedy could happen to you". Every year, she said the wait list grows, and hundreds of people die without receiving the treatment they need. As a part of its pilot project called "university students organ donation campaign", the DMER has sent "organ donation pledge forms" to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik and the forms will be distributed among the principals of colleges coming under MUHS.

"We need to stress that the deadly shortage of organ donors remains".

And although local registration rates are higher, with 72 percent of adults in Kansas and 75 percent of adults in Missouri registered as organ donors, the demand still far exceeds the supply.
