Giants coach plays it cool with Odell Beckham's arrival

Monday on Fox Sports 1's "The Herd", NFL analyst and Hall of Famer Ray Lewis discussed NY Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was recently seen in a video holding a brown cigarette with a woman who was holding a credit card over a white substance. While Shurmur said Monday he wanted to keep contents of those talks private, the Rams since filled their wide receiver need by trading for Brandin Cooks (Patriots).

"I really believe Odell is a professional". "He wants to be great". He's a competitive guy ... Again, we had already started communication before all that information kind of got out there and was talked about a great deal. "I'm glad he's here today".

Beckham, 25, is coming off a season-ending ankle injury that forced him to miss 12 games in 2017 but is set to earn $8.5 million on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract.

Given his past, it wouldn't have been surprising if Beckham made a decision to be a no-show in April and later this summer. Until he signs a new contract (with the Giants or anyone), there will be reason to wonder how committed to any cause he'll be.

Regardless, Beckham is with the Giants now and should be as we enter the 2018 season, barring any other insane incidents that can push him out the door quicker.

Too many people are now missing out on health coverage

"I think ALL players it's good and important they are here and working together". I can't promise that's going to happen.

"I'm not overthinking this". They could trade Beckham and get another first round pick or two out of it, and could still trade their number two pick, getting numerous early round picks there as well.

Beckham arrived Monday at the Giants OTAs and although it might not change anything from a contractual standpoint, it could signal the end of an impending trade.

Without him, the Giants slumped to a 3-13 record, and the offense finished 31st in the National Football League in scoring at 15.4 points per game. On his own FS1 show, "First Things First", Cris Carter said of the video last month, "I expect better from him".
