Too many people are now missing out on health coverage

To commemorate World Health Day observed on April 7, the Junior Chambers International (JCI) organised a medical outreach for residents of Ipodo community in Ikeja, Lagos.

"Health for all "has therefore been the guiding vision of WHO for more than seven decades".

"The main aim of carrying out this exercise is not just to encourage all citizens to live healthy lives but remind the Federal Government of its responsibility at ensuring availability of health services to all through the Universal Health Coverage".

Cristian Morales, representative on the island of the world (WHO) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), praised the comparable Cuban indicators with results from more developed nations, especially the infant mortality rate that registered four per one thousand born alive in 2017, the lowest in the Americas region.

Naveen said: "I am glad to announce the launching of Nirmal - a scheme to strengthen sanitation, security and other supportive services at public health institutions, Sampurna Surakshya Kabacha - another scheme to provide mothers and newborns kits for all cases of institutional delivery, Sunetra - a programme to provide free universal eye health care to all and Sahaya - for free dialysis services".

He directed the Health and Family Welfare Department and the Collectors to closely monitor these initiatives to ensure that the benefits reach all the people of the State.

It also launched a set of six stamps commemorative UN World Health Day stamps to promote worldwide awareness and action to achieve health for everyone around the world.
