"I'd like to thank my boys for the team effort and thank the Kenyan team for a good game", said Fiji captain Jerry Tuwai.

Shujaa beat New Zealand 21-12 while Fiji rallied from 19-5 down at the break to beat South Africa 26-24, setting up a date with Kenya in the finals.

Fiji's consideration will now be centered on additional glory when the group heads to the Commonwealth Video games on Australia's Gold Coast.

Fiji's march towards a record fourth straight Hong Kong Sevens crown gathered pace with two more victories on Saturday but the US may be the ones to stand in their way.

The South Africans were among the nations to send development squads to Hong Kong and focus their more senior players on the Commonwealth Games.

Their suspension was lifted in time to compete at Glasgow 2014 but too late for their rugby sevens team to participate.

Anthony Eddy's side will face Japan in the last four tomorrow after easing to a 38-5 win over Zimbabwe in the quarter-finals at the Hong Kong Stadium, their fourth straight win of the campaign.

The women's hockey team bounced back strongly after the 2-3 stunning loss to Wales with a 4-1 rout of Malaysia in a Group A match. Gururaja claimed silver in the men's 56kg category, taking the total number of medals won by weightlifters to four so far.

Fiji, who are nearly at full strength, thrashed New Zealand 50-7 in their final pool match and are on course to meet South Africa in the semi-finals if they overcome Argentina and the Blitzboks beat Spain.

Three legs of the season remain.

Before joining the series they will contest the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco on July 20-22 as one of the two Asian qualifiers.

They had beaten Ireland 12-7 in their semi-final while Germany progressed thanks to a 19-12 win over Chile.

South Africa beat New Zealand 29-7 to take the bronze medal, whereas Argentina edged United States of America 14-12 to safe fifth. They finished runners-up after losing 31-14 to China in the final.

France won the Challenge Trophy with a 33-7 victory over Canada.
