Golden night for Aussies as they smash records at Commonwealth Games

On the second night at Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane, Australia stepped up its dominance, adding two more gold medals to the three they pocketed 24 hours earlier.

Australia's David Morgan has won the silver medal in the 200m butterfly at the Commonwealth Games.

Wilmott, beaten by Miley in the 2014 Glasgow final, fought back tenaciously in the final freestyle leg to pip the Scot by 0.26secs with Australia's Blair Evans third.

Horton, who upset Chinese defending champion Sun Yang to snatch gold at Rio two years ago, joined five-time Olympic champion Thorpe, who was the last Australian man to win the 400m free in Manchester in 2002.

"I've been second nearly every single time", Wilmott said.

Sisters Bronte and Cate Campbell, Emma McKeon and Shayna Jack clocked a time of 3 minutes, 30.05 seconds to break the world record in the 4x100-meter women's freestyle relay.

She was under world record pace for most of the one-length race before finishing just 0.21sec outside Swede Sarah Sjostrom's world record of 23.67sec.

These people are not what America is about and American will reject them!" she bellowed. When reached for comment, the Fox News host said the anecdote was "a total lie".

"It's really about swimming to win. I can't choose a medal but they're all special".

"My coach said, 'The atmosphere out there is electric, go out, soak it up, '" she said.

The Gold Coast is staging the 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games, but cycling and shooting events are being held in refurbished Brisbane venues that were initially built for the 1982 Games.

The result caps another excellent day for Australia, who now have a total of 32 medals from their exploits in the pool, including 11 golds.

The New Zealanders picked up their first gold medal on the track with a victory over England in the men's team sprint.

Their performance comes despite some DIY rehab and recovery sessions for India's weightlifters after their physio missed the accreditation deadline and was denied access to the Games village.
