The recall will be carried out in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and will be focused on six models of Amazon's house-brand power banks sold over a almost three-year period.

The recall involves six versions of AmazonBasics' portable lithium-ion battery chargers: 16,100 mAh; 10,000 mAh; 5,600 mAh; 2,000 mAh with micro USB cable; 3,000 mAh and 3,000 mAh with USB micro cable. Those are model numbers B00ZQ4JQAA, B00LRK8JDC, B00LRK8IV0, B00LRK8I7O, B00LRK8EVO and B00LRK8HJ8. The affected units post a fire hazard which is why they're being recalled.

AmazonBasics is not only very lucrative for Amazon, it's become a trusted brand shoppers turn to when they want a reliable accessory. All customers that have purchased an affected unit will be contacted and asked to register their product for a refund.

About 260,000 AmazonBasics portable power banks were recalled by Amazon on Tuesday because, while they bring necessary juice to portable electronic devices, they also can bring more heat than necessary.
