Police in camouflage uniforms searched house-to-house near the campus of Central Michigan University for a student suspected of fatally shooting two people at a dormitory and then fleeing into the neighborhood.

The younger Davis is a sophomore at Central Michigan University, officials said.

Police said cameras located in the common area and exits of the dorm captured Davis leaving the dorm, heading north and running along train tracks.

The university's emergency communication system says that the 2 deceased are not students at CMU and that police believe the shooting started from a domestic situation. More than 100 officers from multiple agencies were still searching for Davis of 9:30 p.m. Friday evening.

Dispatchers have confirmed that the shooter, James Eric Davis now in police custody.

Davis allegedly shot his parents after they picked him up from that hospital Friday morning. He was wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie when last seen. Officers spoke to his mother, told her what they observed, and police say she expressed concern about possible drug use.

There were no other injuries in the shooting, according to the school's website.

At an afternoon press conference, cops said they believed Davis was within the city limits.

Parents trying to pick up students at the school were being asked to stay off campus.
