Iran's United Nations envoy: No military solution to crisis in Yemen

Britain's United Nations delegation, which drafted the vetoed resolution, had sought to secure Russia's support by removing language condemning Iran for allegedly allowing the transfer of Iranian arms to the Shi'ite rebels as well as removing any threat of United Nations action over the alleged embargo violations.

The UN Security Council is expected to vote Monday on a British-drafted resolution that would condemn Iran for violating a UN arms embargo by providing missiles and drones to Shi'ite rebels in Yemen.

Iran accused the US and United Kingdom of being "the major military supporters of the war of aggression against Yemen".

China and Kazakhstan abstained, while Bolivia also voted against the measure.

Nebenzia noted that Russian Federation wished no misunderstanding on the matter and it fully endorses the majority of the provisions set forth in the resolution, but "cannot concur with uncorroborated conclusions and evidence which requires verification and discussions within the Sanctions Committee".

However, Moscow has made it clear it will vote down any proposed sanctions on Iran despite evidence showing the country has supplied weapons to Houthi rebels to carry out attacks on the Yemeni government.

Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said after the visit that he does not believe there is a case for United Nations action against Iran.

Kuo doesn't give specifics for hardware, only suggesting that metal injection molding specialist SZS is likely to be involved. Possibly, the headphones would be similar to the over-ear headphones which Apple makes through the Beats subsidiary.

What is happening in Yemen, the spokesman continued, is the result of the U.S. -UK arms exports to Saudi Arabia which unleashed a bloody war on Yemen in March 2015 to restore its former Riyadh-allied government.

The text, strongly supported by the United States, won 11 favorable votes at the 15-member Security Council but was blocked by Russia's veto.

"Today, Russia protected the terrorist-sponsoring regime in Iran", said Haley, who was traveling to Honduras. "Today, Russia protected the terrorist-sponsoring regime in Iran", said Nikki Haley, the United States permanent representative to the UN.

USA envoy Kelley Currie accused Russian Federation and other countries that did not support the vetoed resolution to put pressure on Iran of "deciding to shield Tehran from responsibility".

Both Tehran and Sana'a have repeatedly rejected the allegations as a fabricated scenario, and said the armed forces of Yemen have strengthened their missile power on their own.

In the end the UN Security Council accepted Russian resolution on technical extension of sanctions. Millions of people are on the brink of starvation and more than 22 million - nearly the entire population - are in need, according to humanitarian agencies.

Haley did not specify what kind of action could be taken.
