Alcatel Revamps Its Smartphones with Supersized Screens

We're sure it won't come as a surprise that the ultra-low-cost Alcatel 1X is the least good-looking of the bunch, although even that thing impressively manages to keep screen bezels thin while supporting both fingerprint and facial recognition.

For those who don't know Alcatel, it's a company known for releasing very cheap but passable smartphones, but in recent years, it's been trying to make them more appealing.

For now, though, it's Chinese device maker TCL that is hogging all the attention with its new lineup of budget smartphones that includes, interestingly, the world's first Android Go smartphone, the Alcatel 1X. It also supports slow motion recording and comes with new features like Light Trace and Video Story. The Android Oreo phone has quad core MediaTek MT8735A chipset, 2 GB RAM, 16/32 GB internal memory, a micro SD card slot and a 3000 mAh battery. Under the hood, the Alcatel 1X sports 16GB internal storage, a quad-core MT6739 processor, 1GB RAM and has a 5.3-inch 18:9 VGA+ display. The 3X ships with a 5.7-inch display, MT6739 processor, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB expandable internal storage loaded with Android Nougat.

In the camera department, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front camera with f/2.4 aperture.

Alongside that, there's the Alcatel 3-series. With EUR 150 price tag, the device offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The Alcatel 3X runs on Nougat while the other two devices in the same segment get the Android Oreo operation.

If you're looking for a new tablet that you can toss around the house, Alcatel has lobbed a couple of options your way: the Alcatel 1T 10 and 1T 7. Some other features are 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage, quad-core processor, fingerprint sensor and 3000mAh battery. It also includes Google Assistant for Android Go.

Delta, United ending group travel discount for NRA members
Clayton-based rental vehicle giant Enterprise Rent-A-Car is dropping a discount for National Rifle Association members. In a tweet Saturday, Delta said it is asking the gun lobby to "remove our information from their website ".

Available in multiple colors starting in April, the Alcatel 1X will start from 99 euros for the single-SIM version and 109 euros for the dual-SIM model.

The Alcatel 3V costs Euro 190 and is the only smartphone in the Alcatel 3 lineup to offer Full HD+ display. The device is one of the few to sport dual front-facing camera lenses - a 13-megapixel primary shooter and a super wide-angle 5-megapixel lens with LED flash.

Theres also an Alcatel 1C that picks up a metal finish and only ships with 3G radios. It will be running on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

Puzzling is the fact that only the 3 and 3V are running Android Oreo. The Alcatel 1X with single SIM and dual SIM support will be available in April for Euro 100 and Euro 110 respectively.

On the front is the 5.3-inch FWVGA+ (960 x 480 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
